What is Home Perfomance Group?

Home Performance Group is a professional air sealing and insulation company. HPG participates in the Energize Delaware Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® Program. Air sealing takes on a variety of forms and application methods. Spray foam is the most common form. Air sealing products must be high-quality and have the appropriate fire rating to meet local and national code.
When an assessment shows that a home has excessive air leakage, air sealing is the go-to remedy to make the home more air-tight and prevent heat loss/gain. Spray foam, caulk and weatherstripping can be applied as needed to get rid of unwanted air flow. During Energy Audits, the blower door test is performed and from the test’s results, the targets for air sealing improvement are established. Different rebate incentives are established for air flow (CFM) reduction at 20%, 30% and 40%.

Home Performance Group Process

Insulation and air sealing play pivotal roles in enhancing the overall performance and comfort of a home. Here’s why they matter:
1

Energy efficiency

Proper insulation and air sealing act as a barrier against heat transfer, preventing the escape of conditioned air. This results in reduced energy consumption, as your heating and cooling systems work more efficiently to maintain a comfortable temperature. The financial savings from lower energy bills are a direct benefit of improved efficiency.

Cost Saving

A well-insulated and tightly sealed home requires less energy to maintain a consistent temperature. This translates into significant cost savings on monthly utility bills. Investing in insulation and air sealing is a long-term strategy that pays off through lower energy expenses over the life of your home.
2

Temperature Consistency

Insulation helps regulate indoor temperatures, creating a more consistent and comfortable living environment. This means fewer temperature fluctuations, drafts, and hot or cold spots, providing a cozy atmosphere throughout the entire home.
3

Reduce Carbon Footprint

Improving the energy efficiency of your home through insulation and air sealing not only benefits your wallet but also the environment. By consuming less energy, you contribute to a lower carbon footprint, promoting sustainability and responsible living.
4

Enhanced Indoor Air Quality

Proper air sealing prevents the infiltration of outdoor pollutants and allergens, contributing to better indoor air quality. This is particularly important for the health and well-being of occupants, especially those with respiratory conditions.
5

Moisture Control

Insulation and air sealing help regulate moisture levels in the home. This is crucial in preventing mold growth, wood rot, and other issues associated with excess humidity. A well-insulated and sealed home provides a protective barrier against moisture-related problems.
6

Extended Lifespan of HVAC Systems

When a home is properly sealed and insulated, HVAC systems experience less strain. This reduces the frequency of repairs and extends the lifespan of heating and cooling equipment, saving homeowners from premature replacement costs.
7

Increased Property Value

Energy-efficient homes are increasingly attractive to buyers. Investing in insulation and air sealing not only enhances your comfort but also adds value to your property, making it more marketable in the long run.
8
In essence, insulation and air sealing are integral components of a comfortable, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious home. They create a well-balanced living space that prioritizes efficiency, sustainability, and the well-being of its occupants.
